Climate

Climate Types:

What kinds of climates exist in Haiti? How uniform is the climate across the country?
Map of Various Climates and Land Use in Haiti. Found at Learn from Nature.

Haiti's has both tropical and semiarid climates. Various types of climates in Haiti are savannas, forests, and marsh/swamp lands (Learn from Nature). The range of climates are attributed to Haiti's mountains and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Haiti's Eastern slopes prevent tradewinds from traveling further inland, thus making the Windward coasts tropical and the Leeward coast semiarid (World Factbook).
